Sensatek Propulsion Technology, Inc. was selected to compete at The National Cleantech University Prize Conference and Competition in Denver, Colorado after winning 1st place in U.S. Department of Energy’s Megawatt Ventures Regional Competition. The National Cleantech University Prize Conference and Competition is an annual event that brings together student teams from across the nation to compete for up to $100K in prizes that they can use to support their clean tech ventures.

The competition comprises a total of 21 teams – eight regional winners and 13 runners-up – that participated in the National Competition, where they toured the National Renewable Energy Laboratory, pitched their clean energy commercialization plans to a panel of judges, and competed for $100,000 in prizes.

Leading up to the competition, teams were given exclusive access to courses, mentors and trainings that prepared them to compete by strengthening their business and entrepreneurial skill set. After the competition, teams were connected with accelerators, incubators and investors who provide further support to help the teams excel.

Cleantech UP was built on the success of its precursor, the Energy Department’s National Clean Energy Business Plan Competition (NCEBPC), which leveraged growing interest in energy entrepreneurship to expand student engagement in clean energy technologies. Launched in 2011, the NCEBPC has attracted more than 1,000 teams, resulting in more than 120 ventures and generating $130 million in follow-on funding.
